The white area is painted wood and can be written on with paint pens or sharpie.

Please note in the personalization or order notes if you would like your frame wood burnt ( see listing photo) or stained (dark walnut). I can get any minwax stain as well, so message me if you want a different color stain. We also can stain the backing to match the frame which is a super pretty option that can be signed with a white paint pen
